Several years ago I painted this piece. When I finished it I laughed out loud.
This drowsy gal wakes from a sun induced nap to find her children are gone. Where in the heck are they? My solution to the mystery is what really made me laugh. Sound effect: evil cackle. We all need a little laugh now and then. Do you know where they are?
I have been working on my Artist Trading Cards (ATCs), trying to find a rhythm.
Once I decided to rely on images of my own creating I found what I was looking for.
You may recognize the figure above. She was in a post from May 18, 2009. I had painted a large canvas called Family, Love, Life. It was a woman juggling all of the aspects of her life. I had postcards made of the 24″ x 36″ painting. I cut up one of these postcards, collaged her with some other materials and now here she is on an ATC.
Bless Your Heart
This lady now lives in California, but I have postcards with her image on them as well. So with the fun polka dot paper from my friend Hannah and a heart from another card I had illustrated we are transported to a southern mode with “Bless Your Heart”. She was featured in a post on February 17, 2011.
This collage is a combination of an image from one of my postcards with a piece of a retired oil painting and some beautiful Japanese tissue paper. You may remember this little fellow from a November 28, 2011 post.
The familiarity of the images made me comfortable with this new tiny scale artwork. Maybe it is a direction to explore with my large paintings too, inserting my niftyartgirl figures into the more serious oil paintings. Hmmm, I am feeling inspired.
