I have been so blessed in being able to take classes taught by Carla Sonheim and last year in conjunction with Lynn Whipple.
This year I have learned even more techniques.
Tiger Walking, pastel and ink
Gorilla sketches, ink and charcoal.
Some of the lessons have been flashbacks to college while others are very imaginative and really get the creative gusto going.
Picasso study on my drafting table.
You never know how another person’s mind is working. It is fun to see what Carla Sonheim is cooking up for her students every other week.
Flying Person, watercolor, medium, charcoal.
Cut paper, watercolor, charcoal.
A little inspiration from other artists is always welcome. Stirring the pot that is my brain usually results in surprises.
Still life. Watercolor, acrylic, pencil.
The surprises have become something I look forward to daily. What will come from my hand, heart and brain today with the nudge of an art class for inspiration.
Day 30, Guardian of the Drama Queen
Because we all know one. Maybe the Guardian can protect those around her too.
Day 29, Singular Journey Guardian
Sometimes a person or guardian has to “go it alone”. Watercolor and colored pencils on paper. 14″ x 12″
Day 28, Guardian for the One with the Heavy Load.
Our caregivers do the heavy lifting. They need Guardians as much as or more than the rest of us.
Day 27, Western Desert Guardian
A little more pastel and pencil than watercolor today. The new work has been hung at Pea Ridge Kitchen and Bar. I hope you will come by and take a look and sample some of their terrific meals. By the way Shane, at the bar, makes a pretty healthy Manhattan.
Day 26, Guardian for those who Teach
This guardian is 9″ x 12″ matted to 16″ x 20″. The medium is watercolor on paper ($75.00). Many of the Guardians will be shown at Pea Ridge Kitchen and Bar on Lawrenceville Highway in Decatur, GA. This is a suburb of Atlanta on the east side of town. All work shown at Pea Ridge will be framed and marked at $135.00.
Day 23, Guardian of the Guinea Pig
Pencil on paper is the best way to introduce the South American guardian for the Guinea Pig. As most artwork in this series, this is $75.00, matted and sealed to 12″ x 16″.
Day 24, Ice Guardian.
Ice Guardian is 9″ x 12″, watercolor on paper, $75.00. Keeping one safe on a cold night is this guardian’s duty.

Sitting by listening to the others talk waiting for the opportunity to speak. 9″ x 12″, watercolor on paper, $75.00.
